Marissa, a class of 2016 senior, is on her way this fall to UC Irvine to learn and play water polo. Before she graduated last Spring we got together in the San Clemente State park above the beautiful Pacific Ocean for her senior portraits. I had so much fun with her. Not only is she beautiful, she is kind and smart. And that smile!!! She lit up the evening. Good luck to you this fall Marissa! Go Anteaters!!!

With the girls heading off to three separate colleges spanning the length of the state, they decided to do a last minute "off-to-college" session, giving each of them personal and professional photos to line their dorm walls. It was my joy to create portraits of who they are right now as they step into that next chapter of their lives. Together since preschool and elementary school, these girls have history which made the session fun and breezy. We picked the always tranquil Trestles beach and as we walked the long trail to the sand we found little places to make portraits. AND, the clouds were amazing that evening. Nature telling them all..."The sky's the limit girls! Go off and conquer the world!"
Creating a photo shoot for a senior portrait is always an honor. It's an opportunity to document who a child has grown into, showcasing not only what he or she looks like but also who they are on the inside. This session was particularly special because I've know this guy since he was 3 years old!
Dylan is not only handsome, but smart and kind...always has been. Now, he's on his way to do great things in this world and I can't wait to see it all unfold. Congratulations Dylan!
It's going to happen whether I like it or not. The class of 2016 will graduate this year and my baby will walk across that graduation stage with her friends and classmates. To be quite honest, it kind of snuck up on me.
When she started kindergarten, my friends and I laughed as we thought of a 2016 graduation date. It felt so far off...like an Orwellian prediction or back-to-the-future moment. And now it's here. She's applying to colleges, filling out financial aide forms and ordering cap and gown. In less than six months, she will graduate, so we are planning her senior portraits.
As the child of a photographer, she gets her photo taken more often than most, but this all-important milestone moment is almost too big for me to handle. We keep talking about it, planning what she might wear and where we might go, but to take the step of actually taking camera in hand and making her senior portraits...
Well, the thought of it brings tears to my eyes. We will do it, yep. But maybe not today. When we do though...it will be great. The photos will document who she has grown up to be, that kind, smart, spiritually centered young woman, who knows herself. I'm so proud of her.
So for now...I will share a few photos I've taken along the way and soon I will share her senior portraits...just not today.
Kids grow up way too fast! It seems like only yesterday my daughter and this beautiful young woman were in preschool together. Now, they are both grown up and high school seniors. Getting asked to commemorate this milestone in the teens life is such an honor, and so much fun!
Sydni is a beach girl through and through so we picked a San Clemente State Park during low tide for her senior session. We walked, talked and played. I brought my daughter along and Sydni brought her mom, so it ended up being more like a date with friends rather than a photo session...and that's the way I like it. I want my photo sessions to feel like play.
We made some beautiful photographs together showcasing the young woman Sydni has grown into. She's already been accepted to several colleges and her future is brighter than the Christmas lights on your tree.
If you have a high school senior who is ready to commemorate this milestone year with a senior photo session, contact me here. Together we'll create a custom session that will capture who they are this amazing season of life.
