Savoring Moments

This week my youngest starts kindergarten. Where did the time go? When she was a newborn, I held on tight and looked down at her willing her to stay small; willing myself to treasure each minute, knowing this day would come fast. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy she's strong, smart, funny and ready for this new big adventure. And, I'm ready too. But I'm learning that by nature I prefer savoring moments than jumping into new things. I watch as friends easily part with baby clothes and toys as soon as their kids are ready for a new stage. I'm much slower at releasing what was for what is. So, on this day, I'm savoring this photo from our recent family vacation, knowing that in a few days I will have a photo of her in her new school uniform with her backpack on her back, ready for this next stage. And, I thought this quote from Audrey Hepburn offers wisdom for the new school year.

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others. For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness. And for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." ~ Audrey Hepburn.
