Picture Life in the Slow Lane

Have you ever been to Kauai? A two lane highway takes you from one part of the island to the other. One road from where ever you are staying to the grocery store or the beach. I think the speed limit is 35 mph max, so where every you go you can only get as fast as everyone else. Weaving in and out of traffic gets you no where fast. When we returned from a Kauai vacation a few years ago, I remember feeling very happy to drive in the slow lane of the 5 freeway. To me, 55 in the slow lane was zipping along compared to my island driving experience.

The other day, on the freeway returning home from dropping all three girls at three different schools, I found myself in the slow lane behind trucks and campers. Instead of searching for an out, I simply took a deep breath and gave thanks for a reason to move a little slower. I just sat back and enjoyed the slow ride.

So, for today's blog, I decided to share some beach inspiration and encouragement to slow down and savor this moment. Take a deep breath.

I hope you find time to slow down this weekend and take a deep breath!
