This past weekend I hiked the rocky coast of Dana Point in search of the sea cave only accessible at low tide. During the walk, we took in the sights of sailboats floating across the horizon. Naturally, we stopped to enjoy the sea life. In a natural moment of peace and contemplation at the tide pools, I captured this photo of my daughter, unaware of the camera and lost in thought. A beautiful moment of stillness, evident by the calm water in front of her. This is environmental portraiture, one of my favorite forms of portraiture, at it's best.
We cannot see our reflection in running water. It's only in still water that we can see. ~ Zen saying
