Today inspiration struck. For months we have been encouraging, cajoling, threatening, pleading, and bargaining with Baby M to use the potty instead of a diaper. We've had small successes but recently she just flat out refused. A friend of her's got a mermaid doll for a reward and Baby M saw it at playgroup. I explained that her friend got it for being brave and doing something she didn't really want to do. I made a deal with Baby M. If she wore big girl panties for one whole day she would get a mermaid. Well that was a couple of weeks ago and no success. Finally, today, I had a new idea. I bought the mermaid. The new deal was simple. Baby M would go potty when I asked her to or the mermaid would have a time out. Success! Today, she happily and cooperatively went potty when I suggested, resulting in no accidents! Yay! I think we are finally on the right track.
